Additional Swing Examples
At the end of Module 5, you were able to view and analyze the golf swing of our student, Matt. You also gained access to our analysis of his pre-instructional swings, a description of our instruction to Matt, as well as his post-instruction swings and data. By viewing all of these, you have now taken a look at the 3D data and reports on at least three separate occasions.
However, we know one of the best ways to become even more comfortable with evaluating swings in 3D is to continue to look at more swings of various golfers. With this in mind, we have provided swings and data for seven additional golfers in the Additional Visual 3D Swing Examples folder in ANGEL.
You will see six different files in each example folder:
- Player Description – Contains details about the golfer such as gender, height, weight, playing ability, improvement goals, and ball flight monitor data.
- Face On – 2D video of the golfer’s swing from Face On.
- Down the Line – 2D video of the golfer’s swing from Down the Line.
- Swing Report – A PDF document of the kinematics and kinetics of the golfer’s swing. This is the same report that is found within the Visual 3D software report tab.
- CMO file – The file you will download and use to view the swing in Visual 3D.
- CMO.CMX file – A support file that you can’t directly open, but must also download to be able to view the CMO file in Visual 3D.
Some quick information about the example swings:
- Swing Example 1 is of a male Division I golfer. This golfer does many things well and is a good swing example to start out with.
- Swing Examples 2 and 3 are both male golfers with similar playing ability. Both have limited club speed, but they use the ground quite differently. We recommend looking at their swings and then taking a close look at their ground force patterns.
- Swing Examples 4 and 5 are both female golfers who play Division 1 golf. But, as you look at their swings and data (particularly ground forces), you will begin to notice some differences between the short hitter and the long hitter.
- Swing Examples 6 and 7 are two male golfers who are of slighter builds, but are both long hitters. We encourage you to take a look at their swings and data as well.

We believe these additional swing examples are a vital part of the learning process in this course, and we hope that you will enjoy spending time with them.
