Orientation to the 3D Interface
Within a 3D motion capture system, different viewpoints can be accomplished at any time after the swing has been made; thus eliminating the need to plan for different camera positions or adding more cameras.
Let's take a look the many viewing options available with the 3D motion analysis software interfaces.
Within 3D motion capture software there are different ways in which we can view the golfers' movements.
We are able to view the golfers' swings at full speed, pause at any time, slow the swing down or step through frame by frame. One added benefit of a 3D system is that we can often capture at a higher frame rate and see greater detail.
Another visual option in a 3D system is to view the golfer from any angle, not just the angle determined by camera locations. It's like having an infinite number of cameras from which to visually analyze. Face on and down the line are common angles, but maybe overhead would be useful to see rotation or translation. Or down range view might be useful to evaluate follow through. A 3D system gives you, as the instructor, an opportunity to choose your visual evaluation preferences.
