The Biomechanics of Golf

This course is designed to introduce you to 3D analysis of the golf swing and how it can be used as an instructional tool. Our goal is to provide you with a better understanding of both the actual mechanics of the golf swing, as well as how it can be applied to golf instruction to enhance communication between the golfer and instructor.

Course Time 8 week course timeline (course will remain open to learners for 12 weeks)

Week 1

  • Complete the Module 1 self check items
Week 2
  • Read, Watch, and Interact with Module 2: 3D Motion Analysis Systems
  • Complete the Module 2 self check items
  • Read, Watch, and Interact with Module 3: 3D Model Creation
  • Complete the Module 3 self check items
Week 3
  • Read, Watch, and Interact with Module 4: Visual Assessment of 3D Data
  • Complete the Module 4 self check items
Week 4
  • Read, Watch, and Interact with Module 5: Biomechanical Assessment of 3D Data
  • Complete the Module 5 self check items
Week 5
  • Read, Watch, and Interact with Module 6: Applications in Teaching
  • Read the Assignment Preparation information
  • Download Visual 3D Software and interact with 3D sample swings 1-3 and Matt's 3D swing
Week 6
  • Interact with 3D sample swings 4-7
  • Complete the Module 6 self check items
Week 7
  • Complete and submit the Swing Analysis Assignment
  • Review Matt's Post-Instruction 3D Files and Data
Week 8
  • Visit the Next Steps module and review the entire course before taking the Final Assessment
  • Complete and submit the Final Assessment

Course Completion Information:

To complete all of the requirements of this class, you will need to complete both the Swing Analysis Assignment and a Final Course Assessment.
